ReFlex PLAYZONE EPDM

Playground safety surfacing with a 10 mm EPDM wear layer

A Playzone-based construction with a 10 mm through-coloured EPDM wear layer for projects where appearance and colour stability are also important.

Coloured EPDM-topped rubber safety tiles on a playground surface

An SBR tile does the safety job well, but its surface is a technical surface. Where the play area is also a public space that has to look designed, the EPDM version answers both requirements.

The 10 mm through-coloured EPDM wear layer provides a more uniform appearance and improved colour stability. The exact critical fall height of the 4 and 5 cm versions is listed in the product data sheet.

Key benefits

EPDM wear layer, 10 mm

A through-coloured EPDM top layer over the SBR body, giving a denser, more colour-stable surface than SBR alone.

Fall protection unchanged

4 cm reaches 1.4 m and 5 cm reaches 1.7 m critical fall height, certified to EN 1176-1 and EN 1177.

RAL colours

RAL 3016 and RAL 6011 are standard. Other RAL shades are produced on request — ask before you specify.

Same handling as the SBR range

50 × 50 cm format, comparable pallet configuration, same cleaning and maintenance regime.

How to choose the right version

Specify EPDM when colour has to hold

If the surface is visible and the colour matters over years, the EPDM wear layer is the reason to pay the difference. If it does not, standard Playzone is the more economical answer.

Confirm the RAL early

Non-standard RAL shades are made to order. Raise the colour question at the design stage, not at ordering.

Installation and maintenance

  • Lay on a stable, level, load-bearing subfloor with drainage.
  • Keep the drainage channels on the underside clear and facing down.
  • Set out colour zones before laying — cut tiles cannot be recoloured.
  • Clean with mild detergent and water; avoid solvents and strong acids or alkalis.

General information

Chemical resistance

Rubber tiles may resist weak acids, alkalis and mineral oils, but performance also depends on concentration and exposure time. For strong chemicals or prolonged oil exposure, a compatibility test or technical consultation is recommended before use.

Drainage capability

The porous structure and drainage profile on the underside help water disperse and the surface dry. A suitably draining base is required for the system to perform correctly.

Recycled raw material

The SBR rubber granulate is sourced from recycled tyres. The exact material composition is stated in the relevant product data sheet.

Cleaning

Clean the surface with water and a mild detergent using a soft brush, cloth or sponge. Solvents, abrasive cleaners and strong acids or alkalis are not recommended.
