The most important aspect: the safety of our children

Playing outdoors regularly is essential for the healthy development of children. At night, they sleep deeper and their behaviour will also improve, since while playing outdoors they let off steam shouting and running about, jumping, hanging on a jungle gym, riding their bikes: all this to release steam… Meanwhile, their muscles and bones go stronger, their lungs develop, their condition is improving.

However, as far as the safety of the game is concerned, the immersion into the game often makes them push the boundaries. It is therefore very important to ensure that they are surrounded by an environment where they are the least exposed to various risks.

The very first step leading the way to safe gameplay is to establish safe paving.

In the case of playground construction – whether it takes place in public areas or in courtyards of houses – one must ensure that if children should accidentally fall from e.g. the monkey bars, they do not suffer serious injuries.

According to the regulations currently in force, in the case of a height above 1 m it is mandatory to use shock-absorbing pavement. Below the height of 1 m, grassy areas are also accepted, so playground objects with a lower build, such as seesaws, do no necessitate the installation of special flooring unless they have concrete pavement. Despite the fact that these guidelines apply to public areas, it is worth considering them when designing a home playground, since the main purpose of standards is to reduce the risk of injuries which may occur during the game.

Of course, compliance with the standards is no guarantee that bruises or contusions would not occur, but the use of ReFlex playground rubber bricks reduces these possibilities and the flexibility of the surface protects from severe head injuries.

The ReFlex rubber tiles, laid on concrete, asphalt or gravel beds, have proven to be excellent pavements for new applications, as well as for covering existing concrete surfaces of old pre-school or school yards, or for making sand-pits safe, after an appropriate preparatory work.

ReFlex rubber tiles – made from recycled tires – constitute an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution for the creation of flexible and safe pavements.

Why do people like the ReFlex rubber paver tiles for playgrounds?

Safe

  • Excellent shock absorption: certified to BS EN 1176 (in Hungary: MSZ EN 1176 TÜV-KERMI)

  • Non-slip surface: thanks to the drainage capacity of the rubber paving, it can be safely used even after rainfall. This is a great advantage not only for playgrounds, but also for stairs, around swimming pools or on garden paths.

  • Smooth and flexible surface: it goes easy on the joints and reduces the risk of sprains and fractures.

  • Uniform elasticity wherever you step: it does not “ware out” like grass or sandy soil, which get harder where they are used a lot.

  • Hygienic: no mud formation, easy to clean.

Cost-efficient

  • Easy and fast installation

  • No maintenance required
  • Durable

  • Any tiles that are damages or subjected to heavy wear can be easily replaced afterwards
